Hey ladies, today I'm sharing a classic weekend look for me, but a couple of ways I add pieces into a jeans-and-tee combo to elevate it.  I love dressing down on the weekends, and you'll almost always find me in flats during the day, out running errands, meeting with friends or grabbing a bite with Marco.

I've had these Dr. Martens for a year now (got them during my trip to Tampa this time last year) and love them.  I am trying not to wear them too much in the snow right now, because I don't want to ruin them--and honestly, the grip on the bottom isn't really for snowy weather anyway.  That said, if you're going to jump on the Doc wagon, I have two small tips on how I like to wear them: Don't lace them all the way up & leave the laces undone; it gives an edgier, cool-girl vibe.

One other way to add interest: fingerless gloves--I like the black on black look, it blends into the coat but also adds a bit of style (and warmth) to an otherwise easy outfit.  And as my Grammy says, 'You can still text!'.

Happy hump day, girls, how is your week going?

I definitely felt down on Monday, only to realize the next day, it was Blue Monday!  That day is legit.  I had completely forgotten, but I seriously felt like I got up on the wrong side of the bed.  I was in a mood all day, and couldn't shake it until I got home from work, and the gym and got into some video editing--which is usually my happy place.

I wanted to share this look today because layering and how-to is something that came up several times in the Reader Survey--and I will do a full post dedicated to that later this week, answering specific comments you girls sent in--thank you.

Happy Friday!  The weekend is finally upon us and I could not be more excited.  What are your plans?  We are heading to Tremblant tonight, a ski village / resort just under two hours away, for the night and hitting the slopes tomorrow.  Then it's back to the city for my girlfriend's birthday dinner, which I'm uber excited for.  Hope you have a great weekend!

New Years Eve is just a few days away but there is still time to snag something sparkly before the ball drops.  I love sequins for the holidays (I have an entire Pinterest board dedicated to them!) and like I've mentioned before, tend to invest in at least one piece per year as they will truly last & keep in your closet forever.

I'm a big fan of long sleeved sequin mini dresses, but also love a sequin top to dress up with a skirt (leather would be awesome) or down with some denim or distressed black skinnies.

Today I'm sharing a few ways I've worn sequins over the years, plus sharing a bunch of similar items in case you're looking to get your sparkle on this weekend.

We are just a few days away from Christmas so I'm breaking out the red skirt!  You girls know I love anything neutral, but this skirt was a purchase I have never regretted for my closet--perfect for festive parties, even New Years Eve!

Do you guys dress up for your holiday dinner?  Ours is pretty casual, so you can wear anything you like--I'm usually in some combination of leggings (ahem--eatin' pants) and a pretty top, but could totally show up wearing something dressier and my family wouldn't bat an eyelash.

Happy Friday!  Do you have fun Christmas plans this weekend?  Any parties?  We are going to keep it pretty low key, mind you, we have a ton of Christmas shopping to do--ack!  I'm super behind this year and trying not to stress about it.

Tis the season to get dolled up, or keep it casual with some sparkle.  I love sequin tops and usually purchase some sort of sequin piece every year.  My top is from last year but I've linked some really similar ones below.  Pair it with a pencil skirt (leather or fabric would look great), with black skinnies like I did or even denim.  Anything goes, and all you have to do it is put it on and you're instantly festive.  Case in point, the silver sequin top I wore for our Secret Santa party.

Hope you girls have a great weekend!

Alright girls, taking a break from holiday looks, today I'm sharing a pulled together look for date night or cocktails with the girls.  I always reach for these jeans, whether for Casual Friday, going out or even hanging at home because they are so comfortable (and I cannot say that about many jeans!).  I paired it with a chiffon cami and over the knee boots to spice things up.  Throw in a pretty choker and you're done.

This wool and leather coat is one of the best pieces I've ever purchased, and I'm so glad I pulled the trigger back in the Summer, even though at that time it was hot and muggy.  Now with the cold weather here, I've been wearing this non-stop and it's such a showstopper.  I love the drape of the front and if you're broader, like me, this actually fits great in the shoulders.  Bonus, it's now on sale!!

Keeping with the holiday theme, I'm sharing another casual outfit I'm loving for the holidays.  This look combines the comfort of distressed denim with the style of elevated accessories and an interesting top.

I'm a huge fan of dressing up my casual pieces, mostly because I like to be comfortable, and those are the pieces I tend to invest in because I will wear them over and over again.  While it's always fun to get a new dress, when you can dress up your basics, it's a great way to reuse your pieces and save for items in the future you will wear constantly.

While I love to get fancy every now and again, casual is more my thing, with some elevated pieces to fancy it up.  This look is something I would wear to a casual holiday party, say at someone's home or even out for festive drinks with the girls.  It's comfortable and chic at the same time.  Pair it with metallic heels and a fancy clutch and you're party ready.

We are hosting our four annual Secret Santa this Friday and I'll be wearing something along these lines--minus the shoes, because I'm not a big shoes-in-the-house kinda girl.  And if this look is a little too casual for your taste, swap in dark denim or some coated burgundy pants and you'll be a little more dressed up.

I love December, and while I early prefer the warmer months of Fall leading up to it, the festive season gets me right in the feels!  The music, the parties, the decor and the glam--this is definitely the time of year I love to pull out the sparkle and sequins and go ham!

Sequin pieces are something I love to collect (I have an entire Pinterest board dedicated to sequin outfits!) but I tend to only wear them during the holiday season, so now is the time to take advantage.

I have a couple sequin skirts in my wardrobe and this one is four years old (case in point, eek!),  but I've linked a bunch after the jump if you're looking to add one to your closet.  I paired mine with a pretty off-shoulder-ish ruffle top and a classic black pump.  To off set the harshness of the black shoe, I added the mesh-beaded clutch and a red lip to tie it together.  Another great option would be with a chunky sweater tucked into only the front of the skirt, or a simple tee for an edgy-chic look.

Happy Thanksgiving!  Hope you have a festive day planned with loved ones and are going to be getting your turkey fix!  #jealousCanadian

Today's look is an easy jeans and tee combo but the textures and accessories add interest.  I love throwing scarves on top of outfits, especially these days since we're getting pretty chilly in these parts.  Not only does it add warmth, it adds interest.  Although my scarf has several colours going on, keeping the rest of the look neutral is key to pulling it all together.

The fringe and various textures adds interest to this otherwise pretty easy look.  I love mixing various shades of grey with my denim--such an simple way to look pulled together (even if you aren't!).

Today's look is a super simple throw-on-and-go ensemble.  Start with all black, add a military-inspired vest, some tan booties and you're out the door.  I'm all for easy, casual dressing, especially on the weekends.  I would wear something like this to run errands, out shopping or for lunch with the girls.

Are you all set for Thanksgiving?  I'd love to hear your plans; big meal with the fam?  Small diner for two?  Our friends are hosting a huge pasta dinner on Friday, which isn't the first time.  I'm not sure I'll be able to attend--still fighting this awful cold--but regardless it will be fun.

I'll be honest, I wasn't super sure I'd get a ton of use out of these boots--they are beautiful, but they are not black or tan.  That said, I've already styled them with a dress and in a fun way for fall with a hat and scarf, and that's just on the blog.  Plus, when I started hunting around for similar pairs to share with you girls, there are so many burgundy options out there, these were definitely a great purchase.

This look makes me think of date night, or Valentine's Day--I love mixing pinks and reds, and this is a little easier with the blush and burgundy.  It's soft and pretty, but the denim keeps it grounded.  Also, since this sweater (which is now sold out--I'm sorry!) has such a deep v, I paired it with a bralette which is way prettier if it happens to peek out, plus really comfortable.  I wouldn't say it's the route you'd want to take if you're looking to create major cleavage, but I prefer the subtlety of it when you're showing a lot of skin.

Happy November--hard to believe it's here!  We had the best weather yesterday, sunny and in the double (Celsius) digits; I could get used to this.  That said, I've been spending a ton of time inside, binge watching The Walking Dead--which is something Marco has been trying to get me to watch for four years, and I finally gave in to and am obsessed.  Every night we have been watching 3+ episodes and I cannot get enough.  I'm not a zombie-show kind of girl, or at least I didn't think I was, but am totally hooked!

Onto the outfit, this is a total easy go-to for the weekends for me.  I am loving basic pieces and slowly starting to invest in more of them because they are what I grab the most.  These Free People long sleeve tops are so good I'm contemplating buying this year's style in the same colour because I love it that much (already have and love it in olive green).  The way they fall, drape and fit is perfect.  Per usual, the brand runs large so I sized down to a small (I'm normally a medium).

Happy Friday ladies, woohoo!  So excited for the weekend and to sleep in tomorrow.  This outfit is really fitting for this weather, considering we got snow last night!  While the dusting of the white stuff is kind of exciting, I'm hearing it's supposed to melt by the weekend and I can't say I'm mad.

What are your plans for the weekend?  Tonight I'm helping my bestie with some back-to-work clothing shopping #fun and tomorrow we are heading to a Halloween party.  We've done some fun costumes in the past, last year I was a mermaid, and the year before, Marco and I were mimes... and this year is still up in the air!  Eek!  It's going to be a bit of a scramble to pull something together but I'll share what I ended up going as on Monday.

Have a great weekend!

I'm obsessed with bell sleeves and mock necks this year.  The bell sleeve trend has totally blown up (just scooped up this dress) and I'm fully on board.  Pair with your fave pair of distressed skinnies for date night, or dress it up with some slim fit trousers for work.

I tried on this budget friendly sweater last night and loved it--size up if you want a roomier fit like this one though, as I found it ran small.  I'm also sharing a ton of options after the jump because these sweaters are easy to wear, cozy and updates your outfit very easily.  For a more casual look, pair with some booties.

Happy Sunday ladies, how is your weekend?  I wanted to hop on here and share some outfits I've worn recently.  A lot of outfits in real life don't make the blog, so thought this could be a fun way to showcase them.

Today's outfits are looks I've been wearing this fall on the weekends--I love casual, easy style, with a mix of heels and flats.  Let me know what else you'd love to see on this space.  Have a great rest of your weekend!

Hi ladies, happy Tuesday!  How is your week going?  I'm fighting some serious post-vacation blues, and while I'm happy to be home, settling back into reality is hard.  That said, I think having several days to get back to normalcy before working again has been helpful for the jet lag--they say a day per hour difference and it certainly hasn't taken me six days to adjust (unlike last time!).  Still, I'm not making any plans for this week because I need some serious down time during the evenings.

This jacket has been getting a ton of play lately, I brought it with me on our trip, and it was the perfect balance between edgy and warm when I needed it to be.  It's now available in a few other colours, too, so if taupe isn't your jam, you can find one that is.  Definitely a great investment piece for the wardrobe that you will wear for years to come.

Hello hello!  I’m writing to you from the plane on our way home from Italy.  We had a wonderful trip and I’ll be sharing all of the photos and outfits in the coming week once I get organized.

Today I wanted to share a look I’m loving because anything with white pants is a-ok in my books!  Although this look is soft, it’s cozy at the same time with the sweater, and I love how this looks more dressed up with the nude pumps.  Throw on a tan or grey bootie, add a chunky scarf, and it would be great for a more casual situation.
